Gitea (R6 x86)

Gitea is a painless self-hosted Git service. It is similar to GitHub, Bitbucket or Gitlab. The initial development have been done on Gogs it was forked and named Gitea.
The goal of Gitea is to make the easiest, fastest, and most painless way of setting up a self-hosted Git service across ALL platforms that Go supports, including Linux, macOS and Windows, even on architectures like ARM or PowerPC.

Installation

Gitea supports multiple database backends out of which on the ReadyNAS there’s the choice between MySQL and SQLite. If you consider using MySQL it is strongly recommended to also use the MySQLDB Installer app to make sure the MySQL server is installed and its databases placed on the data volume.
On installation the Gitea app will detect whether MySQL is available and if it is it will configure your system and databases.

Note: Switching the backend database after installation is not possible. To change the backend database you will need to remove the app (thereby deleting all repositories as well as all database information) and install from scratch again. So if in doubt start with MySQL and don’t bother with SQLite. Only use SQLite if you know that you have a small team and small repos that rarely change.

Configuration

When running the app for the first time after installation you will be presented with the initial setup screen:

Please do NOT change either the settings for “User” and “Database Name”. For the “Password” field use the serial number of your ReadyNAS which can be found on the main screen of the ReadyNAS’ web interface.

On the same page you can configure an administrative account. If you choose not to then the first user to register will be the administrator of Gitea.
