OwnCloud 10 (R6all)

Access. Sync. Share. ownCloud provides universal access to your files via the web, your computer or your mobile devices — wherever you are. It also provides a platform to easily view & sync your contacts, calendars and bookmarks across all your devices and enables basic editing right on the web.

Please note: Since ownCloud and the ReadyNAS Dashboard share the same authentication mechanism, it makes your life easier to choose the same password for the admin account in ownCload as you have set for access to your ReadyNAS’ web interface. Otherwise you may receive “Permission denied” errors when accessing ownClouds web interface while being logged in into Dashboard in another browser tab.

If for some reason you need to have different passwords for Dashboard and ownCloud the easiest solution is to use different browsers to access either.

Important Information:

This version of Owncloud allows the installation with either SQLite or MySQL as database backends. To select SQLite you don’t need to do anything special in the installer, just enter the credentials for your desired admin account. For MySQL please use the following steps:

  • Make sure you have MySQL installed and running. I recommend using the MySQL Installer but any other method that gives you a running MySQL database on the ReadyNAS will work. Just watch out for disk space usage when not using the MySQL Installer.
  • On the Setup page enter the credentials for the admin user as desired
  • Next click on the database selection item.
  • Switch to the MySQL/MariaDB tab
  • Enter the following details:
    • Database User: root
    • Database Password: <leave empty>
    • Database Name: owncloud (or any name you fancy)
    • Database Host: localhost
  • That’s it 😉
