Pi-Hole Ad Blocking DNS (R6 ALL)

Pi-Hole is an ad-blocking DNS server. It acts as a black hole for internet advertising. Sitting in your network and blocking ads transparently it doesn’t require any special client software to be installed on your computers or phones.

Note: Pi-Hole was developed for use on the Raspberry Pi. To make it work on the ReadyNAS some path names had to be modified. Thus the update procedures offered by Pi-Hole itself or documented elsewhere currently do not work. Please don’t try to use them!

The default password after installation of the addon is password.

To make use of Pi-hole you will need to change the DNS settings for your networked device so that they point to the DNS server on your ReadyNAS. The easiest way to do this is to change the settings of the DHCP server (most likely an option on your internet router) so that it advertises the IP address of your NAS as the DNS server to use.
