Pi-Hole Ad-Block Installer (ReadyNAS OS 6 ARM & x86)

After another round of updates of ad blocking services to my various browsers on different computers and mobile phones I decided to look for a more permanent solution. Pi-Hole offers just that. Instead of running a special piece of software on each and every device it act as a central point for ad blocking using DNS services.

So I set about to bring this to the ReadyNAS – and here it is:

Please note: Since Pi-Hole was developed for the Raspberry Pi it uses some paths for it’s web interface that aren’t compatible with the ReadyNAS Web UI. Thus those had to be tweaked and for that very reason the upgrade procedures using the command line or described on the web won’t work!

PHP 5.6.32 (RAIDiator 5 ARM)

PHP Web Programming Language (Logo)

After building PHP 5.6.32 for RAIDiator 4×86 I realized that PHP for RAIDiator 5 hasn’t got an update in ages. So I set about to change that. Took more work than expected but here is: The latest and greatest PHP of the 5.6 series for all owners of a ReadyNAS NV+ v2 or ReadyNAS Duo v2.

PHP 5.6.32 (RAIDiator 4 x86)

I just built the latest version of PHP 5.6 for ReadyNAS systems running RAIDiator 4 on x86 hardware. Enjoy:

SABnzbd 2.3.1 (ReadyNAS OS 6 All Platforms & RAIDiator 5 ARM & RAIDitator 4 x86)

Another update to SABnzbd. Version 2.3.1 is out for ReadyNAS OS 6 on the x86 and ARM platforms and for RAIDiator 4 on x86 as well as for RAIDiator 5 on ReadyNAS ARM. Still, sorry for all those still on RAIDitator 4 on Sparc – the UltraSparc III is up and running again but I didn’t have time to rebuild the build environment fully.
So, here are the addons:

Kernelmodules 6.8.1 (ReadyNAS OS 6 x86)

A new ReadyNAS OS – and it brings yet another new kernel. ReadyNAS OS 6.8.1 now sports the Linux kernel 4.4.88 and with it again support for some more Video4Linux drivers is added. On the other hand some drivers have been added that again require a more modern kernel than the one present on the ReadyNAS. Thus the list of drivers not supported on the ReadyNAS has grown a bit:

  • VIDEO_CX231XX: Requires at least kernel 4.7.0
  • VIDEO_SOLO6X10: Requires at least kernel 4.5.0
  • VIDEO_MUX: Requires at least kernel 4.13.0
  • RADIO_WL128X: Requires at least kernel 4.13.0
  • VIDEO_DW9714: Requires at least kernel 9.255.255
  • VIDEO_OV5670: Requires at least kernel 4.10.0
  • VIDEO_OV13858: Requires at least kernel 4.5.0
  • DVB_M88DS3103: Requires at least kernel 4.7.0
  • DVB_CXD2820R: Requires at least kernel 4.6.0
  • DVB_RTL2830: Requires at least kernel 4.7.0
  • DVB_RTL2832: Requires at least kernel 4.7.0
  • DVB_SI2168: Requires at least kernel 4.7.0
  • DVB_LGDT3306A: Requires at least kernel 4.7.0
  • INTEL_ATOMISP: Requires at least kernel 9.255.255

So here’s the link to the latest (and still free) kernel modules:

Since I can’t test all the different USB drivers included please accept my apologies if the driver for your hardware is included but doesn’t work. In that case please drop me a note and I’ll see what I can do.
